Hidden Gulfport Favorite Delivers Every Time

I’d been here before some years back and returned last week to enjoy their Southern hospitality and cuisine. Located on one of the main waterways on the backside of Gulfport, Miss., you can’t find Blow-Fly Inn unless you know it’s there or have a map, because you can’t see it from a main road (that includes a sign, that I could see — or not see, rather).

This is a testament to the quality and longevity of this place.

Up on stilts — as all good gulf coast places are — Blow-Fly Inn serves a range of southern cuisine. This day I ordered red beans and rice with catfish, which came with a side salad and bread. As I remembered, the food was fantastic and quite filling. We sat near one of the large windows with really a stunning view of post-storm weather moving out and away from the area. (See photos)

The service was friendly and quick. While not busy at this particular meal, this place gets lots of business and from all the home-made art on the walls by local children and photos of locals, this is a Gulfport icon.

Next time you’re down in Gulfport, make a point to stop by!
